Open Educational Resources Guide

The Guide to Open Educational Resorces (OER) is now available in our resources section.

This guidebook sheds light on the practical use and implementation on institutional level as well as research review on Open Educational Resources (OER). It has practical examples and a list of essential repositories and other tools and platforms suitable for OER.
The guidebook is intended for TVET/VET educators and management and produced by IV4J project funded by EU Erasmus+. All the content is shared as OER under CC BY-SA (4.0) license.
The guide is available in English and Italian. Finnish, Dutch and German will soon follow.

Joint Staff Training Event In Utrecht

From Sunday, the 7th of October until Saturday, the 13th of October 2018 Utrecht will become our project's headquarters. 15 people from all five participating countries will be attending our work intensive Joint Staff Training Event during these seven days. Now is finish: Gallery here

Hopefully, our diverse team will provide innovative fresh approaches as our goals are very ambitious for this short period. The subjects we will try to breach will be:

  • Creative Problem Solving exercises
  • Entrepreneurship Education
  • Work-based learning
  • Web 2.0 tools for VET
  • Open Educational resources
  • Gamification of learning
  • Simulations
  • Digital storytelling
  • ECVET
  • Integration of the methodologies and exploration of tools to be used
  • World Café meeting involving stakeholders to discuss the project’s main topics
  • Onsite visits to social enterprises and Public Administrations
  • Teaching sessions where at least 1 participant per partner is going to be the “teacher” transmitting own knowledge

During our time in Utrecht, we will also try to assess the contents of our guides and finalize their contents. The knowledge acquired in the first Multiplier Events will be digested and we will try to replicate the success in each partner country.

Participants have the opportunity to be deemed “European Innovator in VET” and thanks to the ECVET system and Memorandum of Understandings they will be ready to transmit the knowledge at their local level.

What We've done so far:

Best Practice Guide Now Available

to promote new models of innovation in VET and in all educational system

The Good Practice Guide about Innovation in VET for Jobs and employment is Available in more languages!

You can press the links below to read the Good Practice Guide in German, Finnish, Italian or Dutch

The rational for selecting the Good Practice Cases is not only to find four “Silver Bullets”; The key value of this inventory is to offer the IV4J project beneficiary the longer-term approaches to foster VET innovation and its dissemination.

In other words: Innovation in VET is generally not seen as a goal in itself; It is welcomed only if a new emergent need like for instance a new immersive technology (like the arrival of Social Media) needs to be accommodated. For this reason, we have chosen not only to expose the manifest GP VET projects, but also to demonstrate the background rational. In fact, we are talking about the cultural genre and etiquette

The first 2 intellectual outputs are near ready

GUIDE Creative Problem Solving Methodology

This Intellectual Output 3 offers the conceptual framework to interlink Create Problem Solving Methodologies, Controlling Thinking Styles (Di- and Convergent) and finally Problem-based Learning Paradigms.
This is an interactive guide describing the Creative Problem Solving Methodology, explaining in details how to implement it in VET, introducing tips and providing a suggested quality management system.
The idea on the basis of this Intellectual Output is to apply the CPS methodology to innovate VET with an approach that is exploitable in large and different contexts.
Chapter 1 is introducing the approach to the Creative Problem Solving all along Europe supported also by some success cases.
Chapter 2 is describing the basic of the methodology with specific attention to definitions, the blocks to the creativity and explaining in details why CPS is important for Vocational Education and Training.
Chapter 3 is introducing the explanation of divergent and convergent thinking patterns.
Chapter 4 is analysing and describing in details a large series of tools and approaches to the Creative problem Solving Methodology. The content is enriched by a focus on full descriptions, practical details (ref. how to), exercises ready to be used in VET and also practical tips to increase the effective use of selected approaches, methodologies and tools.

GUIDE Web 2.0 tools for VET

The recent book: “Social Media, a Critical Introduction” by Christian Fuchs (2017) highlights how social media continue to revitalize both economical, societal and political trends. For VET we may estimate that the acceptance of recently-new learning paradigms and its pragmatic usage will lead to:

- broaden the concept of learning and competence
- stimulate to transform the teacher/trainer role into mentor, coach and provider of identification
- start with assimilating social media in the CoPs for VET trainers first of all

The guide is focused on the analysis and research of the ongoing process and it is built upon a strong didactical methodology in order to be ready to transfer the knowledge to any kind of users (formal and informal educators, schools, HEI, VET providers and anyone interested to introduce ICT innovation in the learning).
Chapter 1: WEB 2.0 FOR VET: Research all over Europe
Chapter 2: WEB 2.0 for VET: Tools for Teaching and Learning - Introduction and Approach
Chapter 3: Web 2.0 Tool for COMMUNICATION: websites, podcasts, polls, surveys, blog, email groups e.g. Skype Moodle, Podcast, Twitter
Chapter 4: Web 2.0 Tool for COLLABORATION
Chapter 5: Web 2.0 Tool for CREATIVITY
